Your care
What to Expect
Knowing what happens next makes the first step easier. This is how treatment unfolds with our team.
From first visit to ongoing care
Your first visit
Paperwork, a confidential assessment with our clinical team, and time with a provider to discuss medication and counseling. When appropriate, treatment can begin the same day.
The first few weeks
Visits are more frequent while your medication is adjusted and you settle into a routine. Your provider checks in closely on how you are feeling.
Ongoing care
As you stabilize, appointments spread out. Counseling and support continue alongside medication, and your plan is reviewed with you as your goals change.
What stays the same
- Judgment-free care from people who treat you as a whole person
- Confidential records protected under federal privacy rules
- Medication and counseling together, not one without the other
- Three Ohio locations: Columbus, The Plains, and Waverly

Common questions
What happens at my first appointment?
You will complete paperwork, meet with our clinical team for an assessment, and talk with a provider about medication and counseling options. If appropriate, treatment can begin the same day.
How often will I come in?
Visits are more frequent at the start of treatment and spread out as you stabilize. Your schedule is set with your provider based on your progress.
Is counseling part of treatment?
Yes. Medication works best alongside counseling and support, so counseling is part of the care plan at Southwestern Recovery Center.
Will I be drug tested?
Routine, judgment-free urine samples are part of care. They help us understand how treatment is working and adjust your plan, not to punish you.
How long will I be in treatment?
There is no set end date. Length of treatment is an individual decision made with your provider based on your goals and stability in recovery.
